Cardinal Lacroix Academy Dress Code

At Cardinal Lacroix Academy, we believe that how we present ourselves reflects our respect for God, ourselves, and one another. Our uniform promotes unity, minimizes distractions, and creates an environment where students can focus on learning, growing in faith, and developing their God-given talents.

We encourage every student to dress for success by wearing the school uniform with pride, neatness, and care. Parents are our partners in helping students develop habits of responsibility, respect, and excellence that will serve them well throughout their lives.

 

GIRLS: all grades

 

• Khaki dress pants, no leggings, patch pockets, or cargo pants

• Khaki shorts (May thru October only)

• Khaki skort, knee length or longer

• School plaid jumper or skirt, knee length or longer

• Polo shirt with logo, burgundy or white

• Polo dress, burgundy with logo, knee length or longer

• Knee socks or tights (white, burgundy, gray, or black solid color)

• Leggings may be worn under jumper/skirt (white, burgundy, gray, or black solid color)

• Burgundy sweater, sweater vest, or fleece jacket with logo

 

Girls Mass Uniform - Wednesdays

• School plaid uniform jumper or skirt, knee length or longer

• White collared blouse OR white polo shirt with logo

• Knee socks or tights (white, burgundy, gray, or black solid color)

• Leggings may be worn under jumper/skirt (white, burgundy, gray, or black solid color)

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORM: BOYS & GIRLS - Fridays

• Sweatpants – solid gray (no leggings)

• PE shorts – solid gray (Sept. & Oct, May & June only)

•  PE T-shirt with logo – burgundy only available at Land's End

• Sneakers (black or white) no hightops

• Burgundy sweater, fleece jacket, or crewneck sweatshirt with logo

 

SHOE POLICY

Students must wear clean, well-maintained, conservative shoes that complement the school uniform.

• School days: Shoes must be solid black or brown. 

• Shoes must have closed toes and closed heels and be securely fastened with laces, Velcro, or a buckle.

• Girls may wear modest dress shoes with heels no higher than 1 inch.

• Physical Education Day: Black or white athletic shoes (no light up, noise making sneakers, no hightops)

• During inclement weather: Students may wear boots to school but must change into approved uniform shoes upon arrival.

 

UNIFORM SPECIFICATIONS

• Uniform dress pants and walking shorts are zipper front cotton twill with belt loops - no leggings/jeggings, cargo pants, or patch pockets allowed.

• Walking shorts should be no more than 2 inches above the knee. Shorts are allowed only in September, October, May, and June.

• Jumpers, skirts, and skorts should be knee length or longer.

• Only uniform sweaters, sweater vests, and fleece jackets with logo may be worn inside. Sweatshirts and hooded sweatshirts are not allowed. Burgundy crewneck sweatshirts, with logo, are allowed only on gym days.

• Blouses, oxford shirts, and polo shirts should be tucked in. 

• Pants and shorts are secured with a belt (grades 2-6) and worn at the waist.

• No smart watches, cell phones, or interactive devices are allowed.

• Parents may be called to bring the correct clothing to school if a student is out of uniform.

 

MAKE UP, PERFUME AND JEWELRY

Make up, perfume, and cologne are not allowed. Girls may wear jewelry but it must be conservative in style and size. Expensive jewelry or jewelry with great sentimental value should not be worn to school. Boys may wear a small chain. Jewelry is not to be worn on gym day. Girls may wear clear or light pink nail polish only.

HAIR STYLES

Hair must be kept neat and clean. It must be trimmed above the eyebrows. It may not be bleached or dyed to non-natural colors. Spiked hair and nonconventional or faddish hairstyles are not permitted. Boys’ hair must be above the shirt collar and not fall below the earlobe or eyebrow. Girls may wear conservative hair ornamentation (bow, barrettes, headbands).
 

DRESS DOWN DAYS (NON-UNIFORM DAY)

As the name implies, dress down days are designated school days when students are allowed to come to school in non-uniform clothing. On those days, students may choose to dress in a dressier or more casual manner than usual. Guidelines regarding sizing, neatness, appropriateness, modesty, make up, jewelry, perfume, etc. continue to apply on these days.

• Hooded sweatshirts are not allowed.

• T-shirts and crewneck sweatshirts should not contain any character graphics or advertising.

• Sleeveless shirts or tank tops are not allowed.

• Leggings are not allowed unless under a dress/skirt or shorts.

• Pajamas or pajama pants are not allowed.

• Clothing that is too tight, too baggy, suggestive, revealing, sloppy, torn, or is in any way considered inappropriate for our school setting may not be worn.

• Parents may be called to bring in more appropriate clothing to school.

 

BIRTHDAY DRESS DOWN DAY

Students may dress down on their birthday! If their birthday falls on a weekend or holiday week, they may dress down the day before. Summer birthdays will be assigned a day at the end of the school year.  Birthday dress down outfits must follow the guidelines above. 

 

WINTER CLOTHING

Families should assume that outdoor recess will occur each day and should plan accordingly in outfitting their child for play outdoors. When it is cold, students are expected to wear appropriate outer garments, including coats, hats, and gloves/mittens. Additionally, girls must have their legs covered for recess – i.e. tights, sweatpants, or leggings that can be worn under their skirt. Students who do not wear the appropriate garments will spend recess indoors, and a note will be sent home to the family. Given staffing constraints, students do not have the option to choose indoor recess. During the snowy, winter months, students must wear boots to school and bring their school shoes (or gym sneakers on gym day) with them in a bag to change into at school. In order to play in the snow, students must be outfitted with the following: boots, coats, hats, and gloves/mittens. Please write the child’s name or initials in each piece of clothing.
